Grandson of legendary bluesmen Wille Dixon, producer, bass and piano player Alex Dixon has always been involved into the blues world, especially as a composer He has also worked in the blues to schools programs But Alex always wanted to come back to Chicago blues roots and, in this way, pay a well-deserved homage to his grandfather So it was not until 2015 when he met Lewis Powell at the Chicago Blues Festival where there was a celebration of Muddy Waters’ and Willie Dixon’s birth centenary, when this project began to take shape and Alex Dixon’s dream started to become a reality Finally it has come true in this album that gathers eleven songs, seven Alex’ own composition and four coming from Willie Dixon’s legacy, Groaning The Blues, Howlin’ For My Darlin’, Spider In My Stew and When I Make Love Besides Lewis ‘Big Lew’ Powell amazing and superb debut as a singer, the album features a cast of excellent artists including renowned names together with young third-generation blues musicians such as Leyla Dixon, Steve Bell, Joey Delgado, Melvin Taylor, Sugar Blue, Rico McFarland, Gino Matteo or Alvino Bennett All together they have cooked this powerful recording that undoubtedly will delight all real blues lovers
