From North Caroline comes an impressive singer, song writer and keyboards player, representing the most genuine warm and intense sounds of r&b, Jazz, funk, soul, blues and even rock ‘n’ roll in the original New Orleans tradition Adrian Duke is a real keyboards master, his skill to combine acoustic piano with organ, Fender Rhodes, Wurtlitzer or Hohner Clavinete is totally effective and solid but, at the same time, a very suggestive one, thanks to a cool fine technique Adrian is also gifted with a deep emotional voice and a strong feeling, half way to Ray Charles, Dr John and Joe Cocker In short words, a delicious cd that will convince you since the first notes of the opening tune Cabbage Alley (an old Meteors song) to the last song That Lucy Old Sun that completes the twelve tracks included on the cd All arrangements and musicians selected are really superb If you listen attentively you will certainly discover a tribute to the unfortunately disappeared Billy Preston, whose spirit is present in some passages, together with Professor Longhair’s and James Booker’s ones
