Winners of the European Blues Challenge in 2014 in Riga, Latvia, A Contra Blues have given their personal way and vision to conceive the blues to different European countries, getting the sympathy and admiration of all those who have gone to see them Now they have done a stop on their way to record this album that could be divided into two parts The first one includes some of their favourite most bluesy versions from their usual repertoire as Don’t Think Twice, Its All Right by Bob Dylan, Georgia On My Mind by Hoagy Carmichael, Come On In My Kitchen by Robert Johnson, From Four ‘Till Late, also by Robert Johnson, Sinnerman (sic), whose title is Sinner Man, a traditional gospel song that, over the years, has been recorded by more than thirty groups or solo artists and, as bonus track, another Robert Johnson’s tune Crossroads The second part includes five versions of songs that stand aside from blues but that have been a huge influence to them and have helped to forge their personality as musicians and to create their own musical style The band sounds really teamed and smooth, with a cool dynamism many groups would love to have, as they give to their varied repertoire an amazing sense of rhythm and a lot of swing Also mention the unbelievable tone, vibrato and especially the strong vocal power and expressiveness of their lead singer Jonathan Herrero, who is backed by guitarists Alberto Calvillo and Héctor Martin, Joan Vigo on bass and upright bass and finally Nuria Perich on drums For this album they have also included some special collaborations, which help to give a rich diversity to a perfectly displayed and well done album
