The debut album from the All Night Boogie Band, titled “Shut Your Eyes And See”, is a solid blues-rock and soul proposal, that is bound to satisfy a wide audience. From the very first spin, it becomes evident thar the band boasts a flawless technique and a deep reverence for the roots of the genre. Jessica Leone’s lead vocals stand out for their sheer power, guiding each track with passion, while the horn section, guitars, and the rest of the musicians provide an undeniable instrumental richness. The opening tracks clearly show that the group certainly knows how to provide an exciting groove and keep a classic, elegant atmosphere.

However, despite its unquestionable musical quality, the album remains in a safe background and fails to break molds. The whole recording is quite engaging and works perfectly as background music, but it lacks that element of surprise or a truly memorable track to fully captivate the listener. Of course, taste is always subjective, and I can only speak for myself. The repertoire is enjoyable and sounds great, making the overall experience a notable one, though it stops short of being essential.

“Shut Your Eyes And See” is a good, well developed and cleverly performed release that leaves a pleasant impression, but perhaps it would overall need a more audacious touch, to truly thrill listeners.
