December is here, and we immediately think of Christmas and the heartwarming days that are coming. Besides religious feelings and the rest of the Christmas traditions, music takes on a special meaning, thanks to all those songs that we normally listen to only once a year.

Bear Family Records has a special talent for doing compilations, not of the big names that gave rise to popular music, but also of amazing rarities, which is the case of this album, that for sure will become your favorite one on Christmas, because, not only you will enjoy by listening to a variety of Christmas songs, as well as some others that are not really Christmas songs but also talk about Christmas, they will also allow you to discover a bunch of practically unknown artists for the general audience but who treasure an undeniable quality.

Twenty-five songs, all them published between 1955 and 1966, round up a recording where you will mainly find rockabilly or rock and roll, but also letting space for styles like doo-woop, rhythm & blues or country, that provide a very special vision of those years’ musical explosion, besides showing the quality of little-known artists but who deeply contributed to the musical richness of that period

Only as an example mention some of the names included in this excellent album: Tommy Lee & The Orbits with “Jingle Rock”, The Martells with The Bella Tones performing “Rockin’ Santa Claus”, Nathaniel Mayer with “Mr. Santa Claus (Bring Me Baby)”, Bill Parker presenting “Santa Is Rockin’ & Rollin'”, Herry Robinson with “White Christmas”, Little “Lambsie” Penn singing “I want to Spend Xmas With Elvis”, Jodie Levins And His Boys with “Jingle Bells Boogie”, Kathie & Jimmy Zee with “Santa Claus Rock & Roll”, Charlie Stewat doing “Santa Claus Won’t Come This Year”, Sanda Center with “Come On Baby It’s Christmas”… to complete the 25 album songs which drive us to the golden years of the late 50’s and early 60’s.

As ever, Bear Family Records surprises listeners and leaves them speechless with all their magnificent compilations that become a valuable treasure for all music lovers. The album also includes a complete booklet with a short biography of each of the selected artists. Give yourself a Christmas present and buy it!
