The new European blues is in good health, something that becomes evident listening to artists like singer and guitar player Big Martin who, from Denmark, now presents his debut album.

Despite he has not recorded until now, Big Martin has gained a good reputation in the blues scene, not only in Denmark but also in the surrounding European countries. Although he unfortunately is not well known in Spain, he deserves to be discovered by blues lovers, as he performs a real blues with some Texas influences where, thanks to his voice, sometimes rough but that always communicates a big feeling, as well as his guitar playing, is able to give a very actual air to his music.

The album presents nine of his own songs, where Martin describes with simple authenticity and a good dose of irony the ups and downs of daily life. His purpose is not to reinvent blues or create something new, but to preserve the essence of the style, as for him the blues is the only way that allows him to express and tell real and close stories to the audience who listens to him. According to his words, he fell in love with blues listening to musicians like Johnny “Guitar” Watson, Frankie Lee Sims, Gatemouth Brown or Lightnin’ Hopkins among others, musicians who deeply marked and influenced him.

A very interesting and totally recommendable recording that oozes blues on all sides.
