Born in Italy in 1958, harmonica player, singer and song writer Fabrizio Poggi is currently one of the most renowned European blues artists. He has been nominated for the Grammy Awards, has received the Hohner Lifetime Award, and has been nominated twice for the Blues Music Awards, in addition to receiving other accolades and recognitions. He has recorded twenty-six albums, in addition to writing four books and having played all over the world including Carnegie Hall in New York with Eric Burdon or Buddy Guy and performing some concert lessons at Berklee Music University in Boston.
With this history on his back, there are almost no more words to be said. Just to mention that this time Fabrizio Poggi presents an album with ten acoustic songs, some of them taken from his archives and others recorded especially for this new job. Of those he has selected from his archives, some have been recorded again, which gives us the opportunity to enjoy with the quality of musicians like his brother in blues Guy Davis, Enrico Polverali on guitar, the delicious voice of Shar White or Hubert Dorigatti on guitar and vocals, as well as other musicians, who provide an additional incentive to listen to this relaxing album.
An album especially recommended for lovers of the most genuine and traditional blues. As Fabrizio says in the lyrics of the song “The Blues Is Alright”: “Blues is a miracle, blues is healing, the blues is a medicine to soothe your soul, blues is the mother and blues is the root. It doesn’t matter where you were born, the language you speak or the color your skin is: the blues is for everybody.” At least that’s how Fabrizio Poggi understands and reflects it on this recording.
