Daughter of legendary Rufus Thomas, with two older reputed siblings like Carla Thomas and keyboard player Marvell Thomas (who passed away in 2017), singer Vaneese Thomas keeps alive the rich legacy of rhythm & blues, Memphis soul or blues, she sometimes combines with gospel or jazz to, in this way, create her own style she develops with an incredible feeling and conviction.
Besides leading her own project, Vaneese has also devoted herself to composition, production and performing as an actress. She has worked with renowned producer Phil Ramone and has sung with artists like Luciano Pavarotti, Sting, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, Eric Clapton or Bruce Springsteen among many others.
Since the release of his first solo album in 1987, success has not stopped smiling at her and today she is one of the most renowned and charismatic black music scene voices.
Although this new recording only includes seven songs, they are enough to appreciate the quality, sensitivity, expressive force and magnificent voice of this remarkable singer called Vaneese Thomas who invites us to a suggestive journey that moves from the origins of the blues to ballads, the most actual soul, hypnotic rhythms or a cappella gospel song which gives end to the album.
This is her first recording for Overton Music, where Vaneese shows her undeniable quality and elegance, as well as her strength and vocal mastery along a perfectly chosen songs, where it also stands out the careful work of all the musicians who participate in the recording.
