Singer and harmonica player Jovin Webb had mainly moved around Baton Rouge area. After years of trying to make his dream come true and get a place in local scene, he was tired, disappointed and considered to give up music. However, he finally signed up for “American Idol” contest and, from that moment on, he caught the audience with his personal style forged in the bayous, his humility and his impressive vocal qualities. Now Jovin is very popular in Baton Rouge and his prestige is rising like foam. Here comes his just released debut album produced by renowned drummer and producer Tom Hambridge, winner of several Grammys.

Jovin Webb comes from gospel, music that helped him to express his pain and longing, although he soon realized that gospel and blues were closely related as, according to his own words, those who have the blues are living a difficult moment and those who seek salvation are also in a difficult moment. This album communicates the sound of a blues life searching for a gospel redemption.

The recording includes eleven songs co-written by Jovin Webb himself with Tom Hambridge, Richard Fleming and Jeff Schroedl, plus the cover of “Born Under A Bad Sign” by Booker T. Jones and William Bell. Besides highly suggestive lyrics that talk about racism, social issues, the life of a blues musician or even love, musically speaking they cover a variety of styles ranging from Chicago blues to southern rock, soul, ballads, bayou blues, New Orleans rhythms and, of course, gospel, all performed by Jovin Webb and the backing musicians with an undeniable genuineness, passion and a very convincing contemporary style.
