Peter Nande is a concerned musician who is always willing to explore new forms and cross the blues borders. Thanks to the invitation of singer and guitar player Alain Apaloo to participate in a jam session held at the Mojo club in Copenhagen, where Sal Dibba on vocals and percussion and Olav Poulsen on guitar were playing too, it came the idea of forming a band that would combine West African music with blues and the most actual roots music. After some rehearsals, TogoRhino was born.

The band style is based on mixing high-intensity rhythms like funk or swing with sweeter more introspective moments, so that listeners could think about and immerse themselves in a wrapping passionate atmosphere that moves between experimentation and the beauty of different musical colors, that will bring them an undeniable energy as well as an exciting feeling.

The album features seven own compositions plus five versions of songs like “China Gate” coming from Nat King Cole, “Put The Hammer Down” by Gary Primich, a traditional song called “Rosie”, “Who’s Been Foolin’ You” by Snooks Eaglin and “Back Door Man” by Chester Burnet, where the band manages to give them a totally personal distinctive display, thanks to a very original instrumentation too. As a whole, the recording drives us from the African deserts to Mississippi Hill country blues, gospel, funk and the most contemporary rhythm & blues.

An album difficult to classify, but at the same time, hypnotic, captivating, dynamic and eclectic that shows a beautiful and different way to conceive and perform the blues, in a recording that will undoubtedly attract most listeners.
