Born in San Jose, California in 1995 of an African American father and a Greek mother, both great music fans with a large collection of blues and jazz records, Chris Cain first saw B.B. King when he was only three years old, at a live show he went with his father. Thanks to his parents’ love for music, from a very young age he was able to see many big names like James Brown, Albert King, Johnny Winter, Jimi Hendrix or the Beatles. When he was eight years old, his father gave him a guitar and he immediately started to practice, copying the guitar players he listened at his home record collection.

His first professional job was in harmonica player Gary Smith’s band, he combined with his musical studies at San José City College. In 1986 he founded his own band and, from that moment on, he started an outstanding career full of success, with various nominations to the Blues Music Awards and extensive tours along United States and Europe.

In 2021 he recorded his first album for Alligator Records, which made him a to get a name internationally. Now he presents his second recording for the same label, recorded at Greaseland studios under Kid Andersen’s wise direction, with thirteen impressive own compositions where you will discover the powerful vocal qualities and the tasteful and, at the same time, intense guitar playing Chris Cain treasures, with influences ranging from Grant Green to Wes Montgomery, B.B. King or Albert King, which make him be a brilliant artist gifted with an impressive talent, who knows how to attack the songs with an undeniable passion and an amazing feeling, like in the song “Bad Dreams” where he totally reminds B.B. King’s performing.

And, if these were not enough reasons to get a copy of this fantastic album, Chris Cain is backed by some high quality musicians like Greg Rahn on organ and piano, Cody Wright on bass, June Core on drums, Mike Rinta on trombone, Mike Peloquin on tenor sax, Mike Galisatus on trumpet, together with some deluxe collaborations like Kid Andersen on bass and organ, Sky García on drums or Tommy Castro on guitar.

An album that deserves a place in any good fan record collection.
