More than 150 albums have been recorded or produced in a small studio located in the suburbs of San Jose, California. Its name is Greaseland and currently is well known by blues musicians, not only for the quality of the gear but also for the love, professionalism and cleverness Kid Andersen and his wife Lisa Andersen put into each of the recordings they do.

Kid is well known as a guitar player (Rick Estrin) and producer, as well as being nominated several times for the Blues Music Awards. On the other hand, Lisa has put her voice in hundreds of songs that have been recorded in the studio. What Kid started with an old tape recorder discarded by a radio station, has now become a studio and most of the albums they have worked with have received a good number of awards and recognitions.

Little Village Foundation wants, in a way, to thank and give back the huge work Greaseland has done in many of the albums of their catalog during the last eight years, which have counted with the production, recording, mixing and the magic Kid creates in the studio, by publishing a double CD, the first one with Kid Andersen as front man and the second one presenting Lisa Andersen as singer.

Both CDs also feature a good number of musicians who have at some point worked in Greaseland. Kid Andersen’s CD includes nine songs and, besides Kid on vocals and guitar, gathers musicians like Jerry Jemmott, Derrick “D’Mar” Martin, Jim Pugh, Charlie Musselwhite, Lucky Peterson, Lorenzo Farrell, Eric Spaulding or Sax Gordon and, in the song “Spirits”, you will find the voices of some always remembered musicians like Paul Oscher, Finis Tasby, Henry Gray, Little Charlie Baty, James Harman or Willie “Big Eyes” Smith among others.

On the second CD Lisa Andersen debuts as a singer with thirteen songs that explore other styles than blues like neo soul or ballads, backed by Kid on guitar and a cast of musicians including some who also play in the first cd like Jerry Jemmott, D’Mar or Lorenzo Farrell, together with Stevie Gurr, Latimore, Rusty Zinn, Paul Revelli or Scott Jensen among others, which are a good example of the versatility of this elegant vocalist.

Two albums that become a tribute to these two tireless people who keep the blues alive and work hard to give to listeners quality music and excellent records.
