Jay Gordon grew up in Chicago and, although he learned to play guitar with Phillip Walker and his influences can be found in guitar players like Buddy Guy, Johnny Winter or Stevie Ray Vaughan, his style has moved to the most aggressive blues rock. In his hands, guitar becomes a terrible weapon that shots incendiary solos, giving an own life to his guitar.
Besides having seventeen albums released, Jay has opened for artists like Eric Clapton, Johnny Winter, ZZ Top, Buddy Guy or Albert Collins among others. He was also invited by Eric Clapton to participate at the Crossroads Guitar Festival. Along his career, Jay Gordon has also received a good number of recognitions and awards.
With these credentials, you can easily imagine his impressive performing on guitar and vocals which, as I have just mentioned, has driven him to propose a repertoire that, based on blues, moves to styles like rock and heavy.
This album was recorded live from the Woodystock Blues Festival in Laughlin, Nevada and includes nine songs, most of them well known for fans, where Jay provides his revolutionary force, overflowing the limits and leading us to the most winding guitar roads, with raw, wild, powerful solos developed with an undeniable energy. Songs like “Hoochie Coochie Man”, “Crossroads”, “Good Morning School Girl”, “Green River” or “Stranger Blues” reach a new dimension performed by this indomitable artist.
Jay Gordon’s vocals and guitar are backed by a hard-hitting rhythm section with Sharon Butcher on bass and Tom Parham on drums.
An album especially devoted to power blues trios lovers.
