Here comes an excellent recording of The Midnight Rockets, leaded by singer and harmonica player Maurici Morera who, together with the rest of the band, have done a real ‘tour de force’ to bring us genuine Chicago blues with some swamp blues details and Californian arrangements in the path of Mark Hummel and Gary Smith. The band musicians have imbued themselves with great blues masters technique and they have expressed it on this cd where tempos, swing and creativity shine at a very high level. Some Morera’s and guitar pleyer Sergi Escriu own songs perfectly combine with versions of Little Walter, Walter Horton, Willie Dixon, Kid Ramos and Sonny Boy Williamson tunes performed with an extreme good taste, intensity, coolness, great feeling but, over all, with a great respect to those great blues masters. I can assure you are facing one of the best representatives of fifties blues sound among Spanish blues bands and I have really heard lots of them!.
