After his passing away due to diabetes, earlier this year 2020, when he was only sixty-six years old, The Little Village Foundation and Poor House Bistro of San Jose, California, want to pay homage to the great blues legend of San Francisco Bay Area Ron Thompson, releasing an album that gathers some unforgettable moments of the live shows he weekly led at the Poor House Bistro Thompson was known and admired for his guitar strength, his incredible slide touch and his unbroken vocals, perfect to perform blues with strength and intensity In those weekly sessions at the Poor House Bistro, many other outstanding local musicians joined him, so the album captures Gary Smith’s contributions on harmonica in Little Walter’s classic One More Chance With You, as well as Jim Pugh on keyboards in Lowell Fulson & Lloyd Glenn’s song Sinner’s Prayer and Guitar Slim’s one Done Got Over It The recording also features piano player Syd Morris and guitar player Kid Andersen, this last one in two songs All the powerful energy, amazing feeling and unrepeatable moments of a small club live blues show, where almost musicians’ breathing and communication with the audience can be immediately noticed, are present in this magnificent album
