Guitar player Rob “Hound Dog” Baskerville and bass player and singer Penny “Queen Bee” Zamagni formed a duo they called The King Bees. One day in 1985 they decided they should take a step forward and forget to learn the secrets of blues only listening to records. To do so they went on a journey through the south of USA, looking for the great blues masters they could still find to learn directly from them and the original sources. What started as an exciting experience soon became their way of life and, in 1990, they began to go to the recording studios to back all those heroes they deeply admired and were still active. Since then on, both musicians have been required in countless recordings and tours by most of the great blues legends.

For this album Austrian label Wolf Records has collected some of the songs, exactly eleven impressive blues, where The King Bees backed different bluesmen like Jerry “Boogie” McCain, Chicago Bob Nelson, Nappy Brown, Chick Willis, Carey Bell, Neal Pattman or Beverly “Guitar” Watkins.

With this amazing job The King Bees and Wolf Records want to pay homage to these genuine musicians, all of them representing the real and most exciting passionate ‘down home blues’ in a totally recommendable recording that certainly should not be overlooked.
