The BLUES Magazine (2012)

I have just discovered a new European blues magazine. Publishers have sent me three different issues (they have just done seven so far) which are really exciting. Its name is The BLUES Magazine and it belongs to the British group TeamRock, which also publishes another one called Classic ROCK.

The magazine is superb, both in design and layout, but also in content, format, pictures… etc. The BLUES Magazine is very complete in all aspects, probably one of the best and most attractive ones you can find now in Europe. Each number includes 130 pages, a little bit larger than a A4 sheet, with full color pictures, cover pages on glossy couché paper, etc. The content presents attractive and juicy different interviews with new emerging bands, sometimes rather unknown for us, but also with popular musicians like Walter Trout, Mike Zito, Otis Taylor, Mavis Staples, B.B. King, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Taj Mahal or Chuck Leavell among many others. Interesting feature articles about legendary artists like Sonny Boy Williamson, Howlin’ Wolf, John Mayall, Fleetwood Mac, Muddy Waters, Albert King, Bonnie Raitt, Chris Barber, Lazy Lester, Gary Moore… and many, many excellent pictures. But there are also latest news, concert and album reviews, as well as other surprises for any blues lover, that will catch the interest of not just the most purist blues ones, but also rock-blues, soul or gospel fans.

As already said, a total amount of 130 carefully done easy to read exciting pages in each issue, that make up a pleasant, educational, enlightening, informative, readable, rich magazine, done with a deep knowledge and an unbelievable amount of information. At the end of these lines you will find a link to their website, to let you glance and enjoy its content. Besides, each issue comes with a gift cd, including fifteen songs by different bands and musicians, the magazine presents with a short explanation of each artist. And also each copy comes wrapped in a beautifully designed cardboard envelope.

From these line I can only give my welcome to The BLUES Magazine, the new blues Bible in Europe, and wish them a long successful life. They are now one year old, so I recommend you not think it twice and subscribe to this bimonthly publication.
