Kevin Burt, an Iowa Blues Hall of Fame inductee and International Blues Challenge winner, comes back with his highly awaited fifth studio album titled \u201cThis Trip,\u201d released under the prestigious Gulf Coast Records label.<\/p>\n

After blowing the blues world away with full-band electric productions, this new record represents an introspective journey back to the bare roots of his music, marking a conscious shift towards acoustic honesty. Recorded in Waterloo, Iowa, and produced by Michael Cutsforth, the album strips away production gimmicks, to place Burt\u2019s commanding vocals, acoustic guitar and expressive harmonica at the absolute center of the recording.<\/p>\n

Across eleven tracks, which include standout singles like \u201cRound & Around\u201d, the musician tackles universal yet deeply intimate topics such as love, resilience, family loss and redemption, always with a disarming vulnerability. Deep songs like \u201cAncestors Tears\u201d and the emotionally stirring \u201cDaddy’s Smile\u201d show a mature, generous songwriter who turns personal experiences into a sanctuary of empathy. With an effortlessly natural mixture of classic blues, roots-soul, folk and Americana, \u201cThis Trip\u201d does not aim to dazzle with technical pyrotechnics, but to captivate listeners through the warmth and truth of a real storytelling.
