The album “Souvenirs” by Doug Duffey and BADD is a true journey into the roots of the American South, establishing their distinctive style that has been named as “swampadelic” that includes a vibrant blend of Delta blues, Memphis soul and Louisiana funk. Released by Fort Sumner label, the band’s fifth studio album exudes maturity, freshness and flawless musicianship across each of its nine tracks.

Right from the opening track, “Broken Heart And Empty Hand” listeners will be swept away by a tasteful groove, highlighted by the velvety and seasoned vocals of Duffey, a Louisiana Blues Hall of Fame inductee. The chemistry of the band, which also features virtuoso guitar player and producer Dan Sumner, dynamic bass player Benjamin Ford and tight, precise drummer Adam Ryland, becomes a rock-solid and well-oiled group. Tracks like the high-energy “Better By Me” showcase the quartet’s skills in weaving hypnotic rhythm passages with blistering guitar solos. Throughout the album, songs like “Delta Melody”, “Bad Luck” and “Sinking Into The Blues” move effortlessly between classic blues melancholy and swampy funk moments. The journey closes with a bang, thanks to some heartwarming optimistic tracks like “Don’t Let The Darkness In”, a song that leaves a lasting impression of joy.

“Souvenirs” stands out as a perfect, full of nuances work that will be a must recording for lovers of contemporary blues and the rich musical traditions of Louisiana.
