Born in Louisiana on March 25, 1933, singer and guitar player Clarence Edwards was one of the fourteen children of the Edwards family. When he was twelve years old, they moved to Baton Rouge where he learned to play guitar by listening to old blues records. In the fifties he began to play at local clubs as member of Boogie Beats. His first recordings were published in albums for Folklyric, Arhoolie or Storyville and he also participated in the album “Swamp Blues” produced by Mike Vernon. It was not until 1989 that he was rediscovered by British musician Steve Coleridge, a fervent and passionate Louisiana blues lover who, in 1990, recorded Clarence\u2019s first solo album backed by Henry Gray on piano, Anthony “A.G.” Hardesty on bass, Harmonica Red on harmonica and Pick Delmore on drums.<\/p>\n
Between 1990 and 1993 Steve Coleridge recorded Clarence on studio, as well as many of his live shows. The sixteen songs selected for this album were recorded in USA and include Clarence Edwards on vocals and guitar, Steve Coleridge on bass and Ronnie Houston on drums. The details of the live tracks are not very clear, as Edwards used to invite many of the musicians who were listening to him at different clubs to join him on stage to play together and afterwards, he did not remember their names or the places where he had performed with them.<\/p>\n
