To dare to distribute in Europe such a collection like this one, is something that at least deserves recognition Jonas Bernholm from Mr R&B Records in Sweden has done it, taking on the whole risks He should receive our congratulations for the historical material on gospel and rhythm & blues fields he has been regularly publishing along the years, taking special attention to the forties and fifties music And here is an impressing collection of gospel, black spiritual music or, if you prefer, black sacred music, together with some more bluesy cuts, such as the one performed in the path of Sister Rosetta Tharpe by singer Marie Knight, which new cd for MC Records is a real treasure The collection includes seven outstanding cds I eagerly recommend to fans of this kind of music, especially if you like classic gospel music, as it was recorded between 1930 and 1962 Sacred music was and still is, a basic part of black North American people expression since the middle of XIXst Century and its role has been similar to any other religious music, that is to say, to keep alive their faith and hopes and also become a liberation cry against white people oppression with words based on biblical messages and histories I will not keep reviewing each cd but I will try to resume on a few words the magnificence of the seven albums collection All them have a magnificent vocal, instrumental quality, performed with great inspiration, passion and feeling, full of emotional inspiration and devotional faith but at the same time cool and vitalist, with not a single bad track on them, that could be qualified as a real treasure In short, Christian music to be performed on churches, concert halls, a capella or with the background of a small musicians combo A collection that will not let you indifferent that deserves your attention for its historical value Pray Lord to save our souls while listening to these cds and, if you do not believe in God, I dare say you will also be deeply moved Amen<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
