The Waydown Wailers come from the small town of Canton in the north of New York, close to the region of Saint Lawrence River, an area known as Backlands, famous for being settled by many artists, progressive intellectuals and free thinking people What this name means, perfectly fits to give title to the album that is now on my hands Rooted in the most genuine twelve bar blues, the band does not stop there and goes one step ahead, collecting some influences of legendary West Coast bands of those years where psychedelia was so popular among an open minded young generation ready to experiment and discover new lysergic worlds, as were Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers, Country Joe & The Fish or The Lovin’ Spoonful, all spiced with a touch of British blues, Americana and country blues The recording includes eight own songs and three covers, where the group aim is to reach an original sound that makes them different from other quite similar bands To get it, each band member gives his own personal musical vision and interesting new ideas to, in this way, create a musical landscape that, undoubtedly, gives as a result a more than interesting album
