Back in the 80’s guitar player, songwriter and producer Charlie Karp founded The Name Droppers. Charlie was a renowned musician who had worked with Buddy Miles and met Jimi Hendrix and Keith Richards. The rest of the musicians also treasured a big quality and were Rafe Klein on guitar, vocals and composition, Ron Rifkin on piano and vocals, Scott Spray on bass and Bobby “T” Torello on drums. Spray and Torello had worked with artists like Johnny Winter, Edgar Winter, Michael Bolton and The Rascals.

Unfortunately, Charlie Karp passed away in 2019, but the rest of the band decided to move on because music was very important in their lives, and they felt they could still contribute with their experience and knowledge to go on to create and deliver good music. Today they have established themselves as an excellent band which develops an attractive mixture of blues, rhythm & blues, soul and vintage rock & roll.

This is their fifth album that includes seven own compositions and three interesting covers, “Killing Floor” coming from Chester Burnett, “That’s The Way My Love Is” by Michael Leslie Jones and “I Cry For You” by Willie Dixon, covers where the band puts their own and totally original stamp, that makes them sound quite different from the originals but without losing an ounce of quality.

The musicians’ professionalism is beyond doubt, and they now present a really varied, attractive recording, developed with large doses of skillfulness, performing strength and good taste, confirming that The Name Droppers will not disappoint listeners, as they bring a valuable and undeniable quality, as well as solid blues basis. For all these reasons, my recommendation is that fans should look carefully to The Name Droppers and take the band into account.
