Martha Booker, aka Sheba The Mississippi Queen, was born in Sunflower, Mississippi Unlike her twin sister Mary Booker, Sheba grew up learning to sing and very much interested on blues, while her sister followed the steps of his father and began to sing pure gospel Sheba spent her childhood in cotton fields, because her parents worked as cotton collectors At the age of twelve she moved to Florida with her mother, looking for a better economic situation although, after some time, she came back to her birth land This magnificent album contains thirteen precious blues, rhythm and blues and soul gems, which show Sheba’s great vocal qualities, as well as her amazing skills as songwriter The arrangements and music are very well conceived, always performed on a very delicious way Besides the faultless voice of Sheba, the other musicians involved in the album are George ‘Chocolate’ Perry on bass, horns, drums and strings, Michael ‘The Dog’ Gauthier keyboards, strings and horns, Warren ‘Roach’ Thompson guitar and Chuck Juntzman slide guitar Lose yourself and enjoy the music of this five stars diva displayed in this really interesting and vibrant album
