Another of the new Spanish blues bands which has emerged with an amazing strength is María Carbonell Blues Mood. Winners of Barcelona Blues Society Challenge for emerging bands in 2024, their fame has not stopped growing and, since the moment they won that challenge, they have been called to play at many of the blues festivals in our country.

They come from Valencia, and they perform traditional blues where they mix influences from Chicago blues, vaudeville blues or New Orleans rhythms, wisely combining them to reaching their own sound, something that gives them a very special stamp, despite most of the songs are covers.

Now they release their first recording with eight songs, including some versions of well-known songs like “One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer”, “Slip-In Mules”, “Women Be Wise” or “Talk To Your Daughter” that, although we have listened to them hundreds of times, they infuse them with a different and personal air that makes us enjoy them as if it was the first time we listen to them.

Despite her youth, María Carbonell has a well-pitched voice, perfect for singing the blues, and she does it with very good taste and blues knowledge. Together with her you will find some musicians of an undeniable quality like David Sam on piano and vocals, Lucas Ibañez on guitar, Fede Fuster on sax, Fran Moreno on bass and Juan Lizaso on drums.

A band which comes to energize and give new life to the Spanish blues scene, thanks to the quality, good performing, taste, respect for the blues, attitude and knowledge they show in each song they play.
