From Austin, TX, comes Lil’ with an emotional powerful varied cd where you will specially find low-downs, Texas-slow-rolling-shuffles and ballads Lil’ Joe Washington was born in Houston, TX in 1939 and he learned much about blues listening to Lightnin’ Hopkins who at that time was a legendary name among black people As a musician, ‘Marion’, as his mother used to call him, began to hammer on the piano when he was only five years old, at nine he blew trumpet and at fifteen he played drums on Albert Collins’ band This is an honest well done cd, performed with a lot of feeling, which gathers thirteen good Texas blues songs with a very personal touch As backing musicians he has Nick Conolly on piano, Bill Campbell on bass, Willie Sampson on drums and Clarence Pierce on rhythm guitar I think it is the right time to discover one of the dark black bluesmen who have been on the music business for a very long time but unfortunately have not got an international recognition
