It was a pleasant surprise to discover this elegant drummer, singer and occasional guitar played named Geoff Arsenault who, after releasing two solo albums, now presents his most ambitious project where he has counted with a group of great guest musicians like, among others, Colin Linden, Matt Andersen, Ray Bonneville, Joey Landreth, Glenn Patcha, Amy Helm or Kevin Breit.
His greatest influences can be found on artists like Tony Joe White, J.J. Cale or Willie P. Bennett and his music can be described as an attractive mixture of swamp blues and roots music spiced with touches of Tex-Mex and New Orleans blues, developed in a simple and relaxed way.
Since the release of his previous album in 2006, Geoff had been thinking and writing new songs, while he was waiting for the right moment to record them in a new album. Thanks to keyboard player Glenn Patcha (Bonnie Raitt) who encouraged him to do it and record them, and engineer and producer John D.S. Adams, this album has now seen the light, after two years of the start of the recording, because they are very busy people, so the album was mainly done during their spare time and the few free hours they were available.
The calm atmosphere, peacefulness and good taste that Geoff communicates along the twelve album songs, make it be the best one to relax, feel at peace with yourself and enjoy the simple, but at the same time, interesting compositions included in this Geoff Arsenault’s new recording, that in the end will not disappoint listeners because it brings good and calm feelings.
