Recorded at Kenny Neal’s studios in Baton Rouge, the last album of the group Deuce ‘n a Quartet confirms the quality of a band that, in 2023, reached the final of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis.

The recording will certainly please not only the most traditional blues lovers but also those fans who look for more actual rhythms and flavors, because it includes from shuffles to acoustic blues, rhythm and blues, passionate slow blues and even some garage blues.

The album gathers eleven songs where the last one entitled “Why” talks about the tragic death of daughter of singer, harmonica player and band leader Brian Peters, capturing the deepest feelings of sadness, desolation but hope too that come out from a tormented soul after so tragic circumstances. The other songs move along the just mentioned styles, showing the variety of visions, nuances and colors the group is able to develop and communicate.

Led by Brian Peters on vocals and harmonica, the other band musicians are Keith Colbert on lead and rhythm guitar, Tim Dvorkin on keyboards, Marting O. Brown on bass and Andre Scott on drums, also with the special collaboration of Kenny Neal on guitar, Brandon Adams om keyboards and Dwight Carrier on bass. Eleven songs permeated with a special melancholic sensitivity, developed with taste and knowledge by this more than interesting band I suggest readers to discover and listen carefully.
