Barbara Blue is now considered “the Queen of Beale Street” because, for almost twenty-five years she has been performing five nights a week in every club of this mythical street. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Barbara spent her early years in Detroit and, in 1987, she came back to her hometown where she founded her own band playing every night in all city clubs, which gave her a big experience and an amazing stage control. In 1997 she moved to Memphis and became one of the most charismatic singers of the city scene. Thanks to play every night at Beale Street she has shared stage with such great artists like James Cotton, Bobby Rush, Sam Myers, Anson Funderburgh, Sean Costello, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Wayne Baker & Lonnie Brooks, Preston Shannon, Tas Cru, Henry Butler, Roy Carrier, Carla Thomas, The Cate Brothers, Candye Kane, Leo “Bud” Welch, Ronnie Earl or Bernard “Pretty” Purdie among many others.

Now Barbara is an excellent intense and powerful singer who perfectly controls blues, soul, gospel and rhythm & blues Memphis scene and this album really proves it. It fact, it is a simple but at the same time catching, strong and substantial album, where Barbara’s magnificent voice stands out with an incredible vocal mastery giving a personal stamp to every song, as well as a powerful remarkable feeling that makes listener to immediately fall in love with her. Barbara’s outstanding voice is surrounded by a brilliant instrumentation of trumpet, sax, two guitars, bass, piano, B-3, wurlitzer and drums.
